Master of Accounting

The Master of Accounting (MAcc) is designed to prepare students for professional careers in the public, private, or governmental sector. As part of this objective the program is designed to provide the educational background to become a Certified Public Accountant or to attain other professional certifications.

Educational objectives of the program include:

  • To prepare students as professional accountants in public practice or in business.
  • To develop each student’s intermediate proficiency in all technical competence areas of accounting generalists and to develop advanced proficiency in all technical competence areas of accounting generalists and to develop advanced proficiency in financial accounting & reporting and at least one other accounting technical competence area such as taxation, audit & assurance, accounting information systems, or managerial accounting.

Designed With You in Mind

This program is designed to be flexible, and accommodates students entering in the Fall, Spring, or Summer. There are several courses that are offered online, however most of our courses are offered in a face-to-face lecture format. Online class meetings meet the needs of working professionals, while face-to-face class meetings facilitate other forms of learning and development as well as addressing the requirements of the Texas Board of Public Accountancy and visa requirements of many international students. We offer classes in Stephenville, Fort Worth, and Waco.

Additional Graduate Business Course – 3 Semester Hours

Students will choose, as an elective, any graduate business course. Required courses taken as an undergraduate may not be retaken for MAcc degree credit. Rather, any graduate College of Business (COB) course is substituted. Certain non-COB graduate courses are allowed, with permission from the Program Coordinator.

Accounting Course Rotations

Comprehensive Exam

In completing this program, students are required to pass a comprehensive examination. For the exam, students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge in all areas of Accounting (financial accounting and reporting; taxation; audit and assurance; accounting information systems; managerial accounting). To be eligible for the exam, students must have completed or be enrolled in all required courses and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
