Adults (12 years and older): $5.00

Seniors and Military: $4.00

Children (5-12 years old): $2.50

Free Admission for Children 5 years & under and Tarleton State University Students, Staff, and Faculty. 

Active and Retired Military Members: The W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center for Industrial History of Texas is happy to announce that we will once again be participating in the Blue Star Museum program along with museums across the country! From May 18 through Labor Day we will be offering free admission to military members and their families.

This program is made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families.

Group Tours

Looking for a fun trip for your group or organization? Schedule a group tour to the W.K. Gordon Museum Center!

  • Schedule 1 to 1 1/2 hours for a visit
  • Scheduled visits available during operating hours
  • Please notify us no later than two weeks prior to the planned visit date
  • Receive half-off per person for admission fees if the tour is scheduled and paid for two weeks in advance
  • The WK Gordon Museum is fully disabled accessible
  • Drive through bus/RV parking is available

Directions and Parking

Parking: The W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center has a parking lot on the museum grounds inside our gates. Bus and RV parking is available and we are disabled accessible.

From Dallas/Fort Worth: We are about an hour west of Fort Worth. Exit 367 (Thurber/Mingus) on Interstate 20. Turn left under the underpass and take another left onto the service road. The center will be on your right.

From Abilene: We are about an hour east of Abilene. Exit 367 (Thurber/Mingus) on Interstate 20. Continue on the service road. The center will be on your right.

From Stephenville: We are about half an hour north. Travel on 108 North. Turn left at the first stop sign and travel 3 miles on Interstate 20 service road. The center will be on your left.

New York Hill Restaurant
Sits atop historic New York Hill overlooking the town site of Thurber with sweeping views of Palo Pinto and Erath counties. Home-cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner, open daily.

The Smokestack Restaurant
Located directly across I-20 from the Gordon Center. It is located next to the original Thurber brick smokestack and inside the last remaining Thurber-brick building in downtown Thurber. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

BJ’s Restaurant
Located north of Thurber, about 2 miles north of I-20 on Hwy 108 in Mingus. Family restaurant known for its pizza and subs. Also has a bar, pool tables, and arcade games. Open after 4pm, Tuesday – Sunday.

Mary’s Cafe
Located a little west of Thurber and north a few miles on Hwy 16 in Strawn. Famous for chicken fried steaks.

Mel’s Diner

Located in Mingus, TX. Homestyle restaurant boasting a diverse menu ranging from seafood dishes to chicken fired steak platters.

Beneventi’s Italian Restaurant

Located in Mingus, TX. Wonderful assortment of Italian dishes.
