Shadow a Current Honors Student

The “Shadow a Current Honors Student” program is an initiative designed to provide prospective students with an opportunity to experience the daily life and academic rigors of an Honors student at Tarleton State University. The program allows aspiring students to shadow a current Honors student for a day, giving them a firsthand glimpse into the unique opportunities associated with being part of the Honors College.

The program aims to offer a comprehensive and immersive experience for prospective students. Participants are paired with a current Honors student who serves as their mentor and guide throughout the shadowing process. The mentor shares their personal insights and experiences, helping the prospective student navigate through the academic, social, and extracurricular opportunities.

During the shadowing experience, the prospective student attends at least one Honors class and one non-Honors class alongside their mentor. This provides them with a chance to observe the teaching methods, class dynamics, and level of engagement that characterize an Honors course versus a non-Honors course. They may also have the opportunity to interact with faculty members and other Honors students.

By participating in the “Shadow a Current Honors Student” program, prospective students can gain valuable insights into the benefits of the Honors College. They can assess whether the College aligns with their academic and personal goals, and they can make more informed decisions about whether to apply and join the Honors College in the future.

Pairing will be made based on availability and major interest compatibility (when possible). The shadowing event lasts from 9:00am to 2:00pm tentatively
