Tarleton accounting grads rank in top 10 for CPA exam pass rate

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy has ranked Tarleton State University among the top 10 Texas colleges and universities for its accounting graduates passing the CPA exam on first try.’

Tarleton ranks seventh with a 53.3 percent pass rate. Texas Christian University rates No. 1 with a pass rate of 67.8 percent followed by Baylor, 61.1 percent; Lamar, 57.7; Abilene Christian University, 56.9; Austin Community College, 56; and UNT Dallas, 55.4.

“We are very proud of the great success of our many accounting, finance and economics students,” said Dr. Chris Shao, dean of Tarleton’s College of Business Administration. “These excellent results validate the prudence of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in approving expansion of our Master of Accounting program last spring from Stephenville to our outreach locations in Fort Worth and on the campus of McLennan Community College in Waco.”
