STEPHENVILLE, Texas —Tarleton State University professor Dr. Ryan Foster has been named president-elect of the Association for Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC), a national division of the American Counseling Association.

Foster, an assistant professor and clinic coordinator in the department of counseling at Tarleton in Waco, will begin serving a three-year term as president-elect in July, then become president of the organization a year later. He has served as a board member for ASERVIC since 2013. He also co-chaired the 2018 national conference in Dallas.

“I am deeply honored to have been elected to this position with ASERVIC,” Foster said. “I believe in servant leadership, and this is one way I can give back to a profession that has given so much meaning to me.”

ASERVIC is devoted to professionals who believe that spiritual, ethical, religious and other human values are essential to a person’s full development and to the discipline of counseling.

It is the second largest division of the American Counseling Association, with a mission to help counselors, supervisors, counselor educators and counseling students competently integrate spiritual, ethical and religious values into their work with clients.
