Tarleton faculty recital features Brian Walker, Heather Hawk

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts presents a faculty recital featuring trumpet professor Dr. Brian Walker and vocal professor Heather Hawk.

The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the theater of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville. Admission is free.

The duo will present works by Wagner, Neruda and Heggie, among others. Enjoy various genres of music, including a multi-media piece.

Walker has appeared with the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Dallas Opera, along with chamber orchestras in Plano, Allen, Arlington, Las Colinas, Irving, Garland and Dallas.

He has performed with the North Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Grammy nominated UNT One O’Clock Lab Band.

Hawk, a soprano from Killeen, captured first place at the prestigious American Institute of Musical Studies Meistersinger Vocal Competition in Graz, Austria, in 2016.

Other honors include being a national semifinalist in the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition in 2015 and placing first in the 2012 Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition.
