Tarleton faculty tenure, promotions approved

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Fifteen Tarleton State University faculty received tenure and an additional nine have been promoted, effective Sept. 1. The granting of tenure was based on recommendations from Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio and Provost Karen Murray approved this week by The Texas A&M University System’s Board of Regents.

The awarding of tenure for faculty requires rigorous reviews at departmental, college, university and system levels. Professional advancement constitutes recognition of many years of outstanding performance in the areas of teaching, research and service to the faculty member’s respective college.

Those receiving promotion and tenure include:

Additionally, promotions for eight Tarleton faculty have been approved by the university’s president and provost. Those promoted from associate professor to professor are Dr. Mircea Agapie and Dr. Denise Martinez, Department of Engineering & Computer Science; Dr. Jeff Breeden and Dr. Hennen Cummings, Department of Wildlife, Sustainability & Ecosystem Sciences; Dr. Thomas Burdenski, Department of Counseling; Dr. Javier Garza, Department of Mathematics; Dr. Sally Lewis, Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences; and Dr. Jason LaTouche, Department of Social Sciences.

Promoted from instructor to assistant professor is Ms. Christi Foster, Department of Management.
