Tarleton Fine Arts to Host Jordan, St. Clair Guest Recital

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — American baritone Christopher Jordan and pianist Cindy St. Clair will perform “Songs of the Soul: A recital of Music by Black Composers” at Tarleton State University’s Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3. Admission is free.

Jordan has performed several leading lyric baritone roles, including the title role in Don Giovanni, John Sorel in The Consul and Peter in Hansel and Gretel, along with light opera roles in The Mikado (Pooh-bah), Patience (Reginald Bunthorne), the title role in Paul Bunyan and as Captain Corcoran in H.M.S. Pinafore

He performed the roles of Barone Douphol in La Traviata with Opera Birminghamand Moralès in Carmen with the Natchez Opera Festival.  

He has been heard on stage with Teatro Lirico d’Europa, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra of Bulgaria and the Gold Coast Opera of South Florida in productions of Tosca and Carmen.A highlight of his career was premiering the role of Jordan in Over Dinner, a new opera by American composer Amir Zaheri with the University of Alabama Opera Theatre.

St. Clair has appeared throughout the United States and Europe as a soloist and collaborator, including performances at the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria. She has been a featured soloist with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, the University of Alabama Symphonic Band and the Samford University Orchestra.
