STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The most iconic item in women’s fashion is highlighted in an exhibition titled The Little Black Dress at the Gallery of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center at Tarleton State University through Nov. 9.

A reception for the exhibition is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 in the gallery. Admission is free.

Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the wardrobe requirement to designers Coco Chanel and Jean Patou in the 1920s, who intended their designs to be versatile and affordable.

The gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information contact Lori LaRue at 254-968-9639.
