STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University will close all campuses and facilities for winter break, beginning at noon on Thursday, Dec. 22. Campuses and other operations will re-open for business on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.
Spring semester’s 16-week classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 17, and all residence halls re-open to students at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13.
Tarleton’s Department of Residential Living & Learning will close the following campus housing facilities at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15: Hunewell, Hunewell Annex, Honors, Centennial, Legends, Legacy and leased spaces at Bosque Crossing.
Campus dining services close at noon Friday, Dec. 16, and are suspended until 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, when the dining hall re-opens for on-campus residents. All other dining locations, including the Barry B. Thompson Student Center’s Texan Star Food Court and Study Grounds Café in the Dick Smith Library resume normal operating hours on Monday, Jan. 16.
The Tarleton Food Pantry closes on Friday, Dec. 16, but will make accommodations to provide adequate assistance ahead of the break as needed. The pantry resumes normal hours Tuesday, Jan. 17, open 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the spring semester. For more information visit www.tarleton.edu/foodpantry.
The Barry B. Thompson Student Center will close its doors at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, and re-open at 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2. The Tarleton Campus Bookstore inside the student center will close at noon on Dec. 22 and re-open Jan. 2.
The Dick Smith Library is closed from noon on Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, with normal hours resuming at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.
Tarleton’s Recreational Sports Center will close at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, and re-open at 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, operating on a modified schedule until Jan. 8, when normal hours resume. Holiday operating hours from Dec. 16 to 22 and Jan. 2 to 7, are 1-6 p.m. Sunday; 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The Rec Sports Center’s normal spring semester operating hours beginning Sunday, Jan. 8, are 1-11 p.m. Sunday; 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16, the Rec Sports Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Several athletic events take place during the winter break, including home basketball games for the Tarleton Texans and TexAnns. The Texans host Ouachita Baptist at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Both the men’s and women’s teams travel to Angelo State on Thursday, Jan. 5, with the TexAnns taking the court at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Texans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, Jan. 7, with the TexAnns tipping off at 2 p.m. followed by the Texans at 4.
A series of home games during the break are: Tuesday, Jan. 10, when Tarleton’s men’s and women’s teams host Texas A&M-Commerce at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The TexAnns host Texas Woman’s at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan 12, and the Texans face Arlington Baptist at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
