Tarleton Professor Selected for Museum Committee

FORT WORTH, Texas—The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History has selected Dr. Anthony Edwards to chair its new technology committee. The director of Tarleton State University’s Global Campus is a member of the museum’s board of trustees.
“With the selection of Dr. Edwards as chair of the recently formed technology committee, I believe we are poised for success as we move forward to transform the guest experience throughout the museum and Omni Theater,” said Van Romans, museum board president. “To engage and excite new generations, we’re introducing digital technology into galleries, studios and theaters. This integration is embodied in the overarching Academy of Digital Learning, which we believe will ignite interest in culture, history and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects.
“Dr. Edwards possesses a great passion for technology and emerging communication platforms that makes him a strong leader for our committee and a great ambassador for our initiative to develop the museum into a hub for digital learning with fun and inventive ways for guests to experience and explore the world around them,” said Romans.
Edwards joined Tarleton in 2012, and is responsible for the university’s online learning program. Today, Tarleton’s Global Campus offers more than 20 bachelor and master’s degree programs.
He also serves on boards and committees for a number of local organizations, including the United Way of Tarrant County, and is a member of Leadership Fort Worth. He has a bachelor’s in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, a master’s in health administration from Texas A&M Health Science Center and a doctorate in education from Tarleton.
