STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. Thomas Faulkenberry, assistant professor of psychology at Tarleton State University, has been appointed Associate Editor for the Journal of Psychological Inquiry (JPI), devoted to highlighting undergraduate research in psychology.

Published by the Department of Psychology at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., JPI is one of the few journals to accept contributions from undergraduate students, including scholarly work that encompasses a broad range of investigation, literature reviews and historical articles covering any topical area in the psychological sciences.

“I am excited about this opportunity to work for one of the premier undergraduate psychology journals, and I invite my colleagues and faculty friends to encourage their undergraduates to submit,” Faulkenberry said.

Faulkenberry joined the faculty of Tarleton’s College of Education in the Department of Psychological Sciences in fall 2013. He holds a bachelor’s in mathematics from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, a master’s in mathematics from Oklahoma State University and a doctorate in psychology from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

His research includes mathematical cognition, statistical modeling of cognitive processes and the psychology of mathematics learning. In addition, Faulkenberry serves on the editorial board of the journal Frontiers in Cognition.

Faulkenberry was elected last spring for a two-year term as Texas representative of the Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA). As Texas representative, he serves on SWPA’s executive council and acts as the primary liaison for the state’s membership within the organization. Previously, he served as chair of the association’s nominations committee.
