STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s Career Services Center’s hiring system, Hire A Texan, soon will be powered by Handshake. This new platform offers many new features, including personalized job recommendations and a user-friendly interface.

There are currently more than 6 million students, 350 universities and 180,000 employers partnered with Handshake.

Handshake recently launched to employers, and students will have access on or about July 12. In the meantime, students still have access to Tarleton’s current Hire A Texan system until June 30.

Students are reminded to make sure that all of their documents are off of the system before June 30, if they wish to retain them. Documents include resumes, letters of recommendation, transcripts, cover letters, as well as other documents uploaded into the system.

Handshake will automatically upload student data beginning on or about July 12. Be sure to check your Tarleton email for an invitation once the new system is in place. All students currently registered for classes at Tarleton will have an account.

For more information, visit the Handshake website, www.joinhandshake.com.

During this transition, Tarleton Career Services Center will have a service gap from June 30 to July 12. However, staff is still available to assist with resumes, mock interviews and job searches. Stop by the Career Services Center in Room 218 of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center, or call 254-968-9078 to make an appointment.

Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, visit www.tarleton.edu/careerservices.
