Dropping a Course
Dropping a course removes it from your current semester hours. If you wish to remove a class that you are currently enrolled in from your schedule, please review the following procedures:
Before the Fifth Day of Class
Students may drop an individual course online through the following class days for the specified semester without having to submit a course drop form:
- Fall/Spring 16-week session: drop online through the 5th class day
- Summer session: drop online through the 2nd class day
If you are dropping a course before the dates listed above, login to myGateway with your UID and password. You can make schedule changes to your schedule and the student will receive a full refund for the course that has been dropped. Dropping a course after this date requires a signed course drop request form be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
Census and Q Drop Deadlines for Summer Sessions
The drop procedure found below must be completed and the request form must be turned into the Registrar’s Office no later than 5 p.m. by the deadline date. Drops will be processed based on the date the request was received by the Registrar’s Office.
Course Drop Form
If the semester has already started, and you would like to drop a class, file the Course Drop Form. This form is also available at the Office of the Registrar.
Once the add/drop/late registration period has ended, students must submit a course drop form request to the Office of the Registrar in order to be dropped from a class. Students must follow the drop procedure found below before a class will be dropped. Course drop forms must be submitted to our office by the indicated drop deadline.
Students should verify that all proper documentation is received by the Office of the Registrar by the deadline to ensure the proper course is dropped. Students may contact the Registrar’s Office at 254-968-9419 or email the Office of the Registrar to verify their course drop form has been received.
How to Drop a Course
Step 1 – Complete the Form
Once the registration period has ended, students must submit a Course Drop Request Form to the Registrar’s Office in order to be dropped from a class. The form must be filled out completely and correctly before it will be considered.
Dropping to zero credit hours for the semester is considered a withdrawal. A Course Drop form will not be accepted as an official withdrawal request. In order to withdraw, students must submit an Official Withdrawal Request Form.
Step 2 – Get Approval
Depending on the student and/or the course, additional approval may be required before the drop can be processed. Find out if additional approval is needed.
Step 3 – Submit the Course Drop Request Form
Withdraw from All Courses
Dropping a course means a student wishes to drop an individual course but remain registered in other courses for the current semester. Students who will not be attending and wish to drop all courses for the semester must submit a withdrawal form to the Office of the Registrar in order to officially withdraw from the university for the semester.
