Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2)

What the test is:

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 is a series of placement exams for Texas students enrolling in public colleges and universities. The TSIA2 is a computerized, multiple choice test that helps Texas schools determine whether or not students are ready for college-level courses. The TSIA2 covers the areas of reading, writing, and math.

What is on the test:

The TSIA2 covers the areas of reading, writing, and math. The Reading test assesses a student’s ability to derive meaning from a passage of text and their ability to understand the meaning of words and phrases in both short and long passages. The Writing test evaluates your ability to edit and revise multi-paragraph text. The Math section of the exam tests a student’s knowledge in various areas of mathematics. Since this is a placement exam, there are no calculators allowed.

Cost of the test:

TSIA2 (TSI)- Complete Test ELAR (Reading and Writing) & MATH: $30.00

TSIA2 (TSI)- ELAR (Reading and Writing) & ESSAY: $15.00

TSIA2 (TSI)- Math Only: $15.00

What do you need the test for?

Colleges use the test to assess your skill levels in reading, writing, and math. If a student shows proficiency in a subject, they will not have to take developmental courses and can start earning credits that count towards their degree right away.
